I am stuck on my Robertsons in Edinburgh based in Canongate which states that James Robertson was a writer. Is there a list of Writers that could confirm this? . All I know is that he married in Kinnoul Perthshire Dec 1818 Helen Robertson she was born c1786 in Peebles and died in Canongate 1870 he was already dead. I have not found either of them on 1841 or 1851 Census their son James was at 6 Canongate by 1851 but where they are in 1841 is a mystery. The Edinburgh Directory of 1823 has four men with that name but none is Writer nor a like profession. Also checked Leith same year same result. ----------------- The SCOTTISH LAW LIST commenced in 1848. Few libraries outwith Scotland would have it.
