Janice, I had a ggrandfather named John Aitken who was a forester from the Pestonkirk area mid to late 1800,s. Is there any relationship to the Aitkens you are researching? Hi Tom From what i know so far on the Scottish side of the Aitken family is that they came from Kettle in Fife, my main line had been an Andrew Aiken who went off to India in 1803 & i been working on his siblings decensants & his brother William had a Grandson Alexander who is the one i have in West Calder he is one of 10 children so there is always a chance that your John is related as well as Alex's siblings, you have Andrew who was one of 7 & 4 of them were sons, I am not sure where Pestonkirk is not too good with the Geograph sorry I can't be more help Regards Janice >From: "Tom & Carol Stewart" <carolfam@earthlink.net> >Reply-To: MIDLOTHIAN-L@rootsweb.com >To: MIDLOTHIAN-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: RE: [MLN] 1891 & 1901 Census >Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2005 19:38:49 -0500 > >Janice, >I had a ggrandfather named John Aitken who was a forester from the >Pestonkirk area mid to late 1800,s. Hello Tom, Forgive me if I have contacted you before, but are you related to Alexander STEWART, born Tranent in 1805 and died in Edinburgh in 1859. The informant of his death was a cousin named Tom. STEWART of Leith. Just a long shot, but worth asking. Gil. HALL, Southampton.
