    3. Hello Heather, Your best bet is to harry the Scotlandspeople database till it gives up the information you require. If you know it occurred in 1860 in Scotland it will be there. Betsy could be Elizabeth, Eliza, Beth, Bethia or Betsy, Todd could be Todd, Tad, Tadd etc, James could be Jas, James, or any other first name you can think of. Beveridge may have less variation, but he may have married as an Allan or Allen. If you are hunting for the Christina Allan marriage you only have about a one in three chance on Scotlandspeople OPRs because it happened before 1855. However all the name variation can occur again. Look out for Christian as a Scots version of Christina which is very common indeed. So is the Allan/ Allen conversion as I know to my cost! James BEVERIDGE born in 1836 goes with the 1881 census but it also states that he was born in Carfin (near Holytown). > > I have tried Scotlands People but did not find the marriage. > > > HeatherB > HeatherB > >

    3. Hello Moira; Thanks for your help. I'm definitely looking at more name variations now than when I started.
