Hi Marilyn, Not as far as I know, but I'm afraid I know very little about the early URQUHARTS. Briefly, I have the following: William URQUHART mar. Mary ROBERTSON, circa 1762, perhaps at Dalkeith? Of their five children (William, John, Anne, Alexander and Thomas), I only know of one that married: Alexander URQUHART, born 1770, Dalkeith, married Margaret KERR, 1788, South Leith. They had eight children, only three of whom married as far as I know: 1. Margaret URQUHART, born 1793, Dundee, Angus. Married John MCGREGOR in 1810, Dundee. 2. Thomas URQUHART, born 1798, Dundee, Angus. Married Margaret Barnes SMALLSHAW, 1830, Everton, Lancashire. Had two daughters, Jane and Margaret, but don't know if they married. 3. Robertson URQUHART, born 1800, Dundee, Angus. Married Margaret JACK, 1823, Dundee, Angus. Had four children, three of whom later married: a. James URQUHART, born 1825, Dundee. Married Elizabeth Scott BLACK, 1849, Monifieth, Angus and moved to Liverpool where he ran a thriving Cabinet Making business employing 50 men in 1881. One of his daughters, Elizabeth Pryde URQUHART, married Charles ALDER, a Dentist, in 1874. b. Elizabeth URQUHART, born 1827, Dundee. In 1857 she married John NICOL, a teacher of Practical Pharmacy, and a lecturer in chemistry at Edinburgh. c. Patrick Whyte URQUHART, born 1829, Dundee. A Master Mariner, he married Elizabeth MCNAY at Birkenhead, Lancs. in 1874. They had two daughters - haven't yet found marriages for either. There may be other marriages etc., but the above is all the stuff I have that's immediately URQUHART related. If anyone would like more detail, I shall be happy to oblige. Best wishes, Sue -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Marilyn Sent: 25 September 2007 20:34 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MIDLOTHIAN] URQUHART family of Dalkeith and South Leith Susan: Does your Urquhart family have any Cumming/Comyn families tied in?
