Greetings All! I have just joined this list as part of my efforts in tracing the Scottish side of the family. My particular interest is The Seaton family who lived in and around the Edinburgh area William Seaton (commercial traveller) can't find his birth date. He emigrated to South Africa in 1900/01. He was married to a Jane Chalmers Sandilands b1870 d1901 in SA. They had 4 children William, Mina, Charles and James (born in SA). John Seaton (father of William) (shoemaker) b1829 d1899 Married to a Margaret Patrick b1839 can't find her death date William Seaton (father of John) birth and death sought is listed as deceased on son Johns marriage record in 1859, he married Elizabeth Bell b1801 can't find death record William Seaton father of William no details married to a Jacobina Brown no details Some of the wives came from further afield in East Lothian, Berwick and Coldstream but the Seaton men seem to all come from Cannongate, Inveresk, Leith parishes of Midlothian.
