Hi Gerry, Interesting name, so while I was just in SP I looked up 1851 Census and 1861 census - all records and did not find anything on your Twiss - Joseph in 1851. There is a John Twiss, age 34, a John age 4 and a Matthew age 2 in 1861 St. Andrews Ed. I also looked for a death record, from 1849 - 1850, nothing for a Joseph. >From 1855 - 2006, the information on the records could confirm relationshiops, these are all the deaths listed for J Twiss 1955 TWISS JAMES M 72 GEORGE SQUARE EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 2 1944 TWISS JAMES IRELAND M 20 SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 3 1865 TWISS JOHN M CANONGATE EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 4 1918 TWISS JOHN M 64 KIRKINTILLOCH /DUNBARTON 5 1942 TWISS JOHN M 59 CANONGATE AND PORTOBELLO EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 6 1946 TWISS JOHN M 88 GEORGE SQUARE EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 7 2004 TWISS JOHN M 80 GLASGOW GLASGOW/GLASGOW CITY 8 1997 TWISS JOHN COLUMBA M 72 EDINBURGH EDINBURGH/LOTHIAN REGION 9 1950 TWISS JOHN JOSEPH M 69 ST ANDREW EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN 1881 Census 1881 TWISS ELIZABETH F 2 LIBERTON (MIDLOTHIAN) EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN 2 1881 TWISS JOHN M 23 LIBERTON (MIDLOTHIAN) EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN 3 1881 TWISS JOHN M 0 LIBERTON (MIDLOTHIAN) EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN 4 1881 TWISS LIZZIE F 19 DALKEITH /MIDLOTHIAN 5 1881 TWISS MARGARET F 16 NEWINGTON EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN 6 1881 TWISS MATTHEW M 20 LIBERTON (MIDLOTHIAN) EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN 7 1881 TWISS SUSAN F 22 LIBERTON (MIDLOTHIAN) EDINBURGH/MIDLOTHIAN Good luck hunting your TWISS family down.
