Anyone with connections, please contact me. John Mowat married Mary "Marion" Brown in March 1848. (Marion had been the relect of John Leitch, who died shortly after their marriage in 1838. I don't think there were any children to Marion and John) John Mowat's parents are listed on his death record. He died in 1884 South Leith. Parents listed as William Mowat & Margaret Low. I can not find any marriage record for this couple nor can I find any records of children born to them. I can however find a marriage for a William Mitchell and an Isabel Low. I can also find about 4 births for children to this couple in South Leith for the correct time period. Margaret' (or Isabel's, if it's incorrectly stated on the death record) Father's name is George Low. (from Marriage record to John Leitch). Mary "Marion" Brown's parents are listed as John Brown & Helen Inglis. The children of William Mowat and Marion Brown are: William Mowat b. 1848 John Brown Mowat b. 1851 William married 1st. Mary Jane Foster, who died after their first two children were born, Elizabeth Mowat b. 1875 and Marion Brown Mowat b. 1877. 2nd. On the marriage record I found for the William Mowat and Isabel Low, William was a soldier I think in the Renfrew Militia.
