I have an ancestor, James Scott, married to Jane Edgar 24/11/1812, at Edinburgh. I have been unable to trace his birth but have found a likely death on the IGI, film # 170381, page # 187, and ref. # 6707. Death about 1833 at Edinburgh. I also found his wife and children on the 1841 census St Cuthberts Parish, and if the death in 1833 was his, it would explain why he was not on the census. I am at a loss as to where to go from here to confirm the death and to find his parents. I have also tried "Scotlands People" without success. Suggestions and assistance would be gratefully received.
