Good Afternoon, I would like to see if I can find My INNES Family in the 1841 and or 1851 Census for Colinton, Midlothian, Scotland. The first 4 children of the Agness Crosby's were born in Scotland. Was she married to Thomas in Scotland and in Canada or was there a first marriage to someone else? Where do I find a good sight? With the common names used I have not been able to find any other links to this family after the Colinton Church Register. That has really improved with information over the past 15 years. Hello: www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk is a pay site but is good site for researching scottish records. For 6pd you get 30 credits. The search engine will advise how many entries it finds, one credit will bring up the list, and anything you see that may be your family, will cost 5 credits. Since you have some good information to narrow down the search, you may find what you are looking for without clicking on too many records that are not yours. You will be able to see a digital copy of the actual record. Hello Dee I suggest, as Margaret suggested, that you have a look at FreeCEN. I had a look and found Gilbert INNES age 25 An Agricultural Labourer living with four others are Rmote Cothouse in Cranston, Midlothian. Females can be harder to find as they tend to marry and change their names so I suggest looking for deaths on ScotlandsPeople and the certificate will show the parents and any spouse.
