Hi list, I have a William Brown born about 1802 in Cockpen and I was wondering if some kind person can tell me where Cockpen is or was, back then I have William and his family in Penicuik in the 1841 census, and I believe with his Mother, but not sure, as it is a Mary Brown, and his death certificate states Margaret, but no mother's maiden name. Hi Ruth There is a Cockpen near Lasswade about 7 miles or so Se of edinburgh. Look it up in Google maps.
