    3. I have a Thomas ROBERTSON attested for the Royal Sappers and Miners at Glasgow on 28 September 1841 and using the name Thomas ROBERTSON b c1820 in St Andrews, Fife. We have found no proof that he was born with that name or that he existed prior to 1841 and he does not appear in the 1841 Census which were taken earlier than September. Thomas always maintained that he was born c1813 and while he stated he was born in St Andrews it could have been in Fife or Edinburgh (or anywhere else). Has anyone a missing ancestor who disappeared after the 1841 Census? Murray Robertson, New Zealand

    3. Hello Murray The birth index on Scotlands People has the record of only 1 Thomas ROBERTSON born in St Andrews between 1810 and 1825. He was born/baptised on 3 May 1818 as Thomas Masson ROBERTSON, the son of John ROBERTSON and Agnes KEY. Have you discounted him?
