    3. Hello Julie I had a look at the image of the birth on Scotlands People and agree that the placename looks like "Khime" - most unusual. It was presumably a farm or a small hamlet which no longer exists today. You could have a look at this online book about Penicuik that I found by Googling Penicuik: http://www.electricscotland.com/history/penicuik/index.htm You could also try contacting the Penicuik Historical Society.
