    3. Lisa, You may be interested to see a copy of an original Proclamation of Marriage from 1828. Alexander STEWART and Joan JOHNSTON are my great-great grandparents. Go to http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/sct/CertProc.html The reason for the 'creases' in the document was that my late father Adam HALL 1899-1979 was so proud of this document he carried it around in his wallet! 3. Thanks Bernz, And thanks to everyone who suggested other sites where this is done. Unfortunatly (?) I now have so many records that while I don't mind putting them in a spreadsheet, I can't take the time to put the information into somebody else's database using somebody else's record and data order. It just takes too long. I'm happy to share what I have, but I'm just too busy just now to enter it all twice! Anybody who wants to can link to my page. I've added some more records already, and hope to have them all in by the end of the year. I'll try putting them on the other database then, a few at a time. The problem there is that I have records from Scotland, Ireland, England and the US, and each database, being run by different people, has a different format, which adds to the time it takes to get the stuff input. Ah well. No such thing as a free lunch, my father always used to say!! 3. > __I am new to the list, here are the names I am researching: John Murray b abt 1776 married Helen Crawford b 1782 Bathgate. Helens parents, John Crawford and Alison Binnie/Bennie. I can find no entries on the OPR's for John's birth or for this couple's marriage, although there are a lot of 'possible' entries on the IGI for his birth but how to decide which one is the correct one is another matter. I have the births of all their children and the first child James was born in 1803. Aparently some films for the Bathgate area are unavailable to the general public by the LDS. They moved through to Calderbank (nr Airdrie) Bothwell parish and were there in the 1851 census. John was a contractor and also ran a farm called Lauchope Mill. I noticed on the 1881 census for Bathgate, several places of birth were given as Bothwell (parish), and wondered what the connection would be there. Any suggestions? kind regards Elizabeth MURRAY.CRAWFORD.BINNIE. COOK.WRIGHT.McGUFFEN. SCOTLAND. McCAIG.KELLY.TURNER.HALE.Co.DOWN. KENNEDY.YOUNG.HENRY. Co.DERRY. ____________________________

    3. Hi Gretchen, This was the one I was getting anyway because I have a friend who is looking for BONEs. ......................................................................................... Register of Proclamations of Marriages in Canongate 1812 Oct 3 Robert Bone ploughman in Ormiston and Elizabeth Liddel in John St Canongate. daughter of the late Jas Liddel Carrier in Coldingham gave up their names for marriage. The residence of the Parties and other particulars as stated in the marriage lines are certified by Thos Ritchie, Painter of Panmore Close Canongate and David Russell Cabinet Maker of 64 Bristo Street. ........................................................................................................ I already had the marriage lines for this couple, and was hoping there might be more in the proclamations. The only difference was that instead of Panmore Close it just had Canongate for Thomas Ritchie's residence so I guess that's something: Hope this helps, Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: <GBZMOM@aol.com> To: <MIDLOTHIAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 13, 2004 1:50 AM Subject: Re: [MLN] Canongate proclamations 1812 spares > Hi Jane, > > I would love to have the Robert Bone proclamation when you have time. > > Thanks, > > gretchen > Michigan, USA > >

    3. Hello, I am trying to track down information about the LIDSTER family. They lived in West Lothian from 1850 onward. I have one document that indicates that this line originally came from Fife, but have had no luck at all in tracking them there. Everything that I have refers to the spelling : LIDSTER. From what I understand this spelling was much more common for England and a uncommon spelling for Scotland. This is what I have so far: James LIDSTER m. Catherine RENTON Son : James LIDSTER born in Fife around 1826 James LIDSTER m. Agnes PHILLIPS. Agnes PHILLIPS born around 1836, I don't know where she was born. Children of James LIDSTER and Agnes PHILLIPS Most of their children were born in West Lothian. I do have a census and death certificates for John and Agnes, they all list James as being a Limestone Miner. I know that they lived near the Levenseat Mine in West Calder area. James LIDSTER died in 1891 at Levenseat, West Calder. Agnes PHILLIPS Lidster died in 1894 at Longridge, Whitburn, County of Linlithgow. Children of James Lidster and Agnes Phillips: John b1854 / d ? Agnes b1855 / d1934 James b1858 / d 1858 ?? b1859 / d1859 William b1860 / d1944 Robert b1863 / d 1909 Catherine b1869 / d 1910 Jemimima b 1871 / d ? David b 1875 / 1940 I have further information about the families of some of the children that you see above, born between 1854 and 1875. I also have some other possibilities that James and Agnes had more children but have not confirmed this yet for sure. The most recent that I can track for the LIDSTERS in this area is up to 1948, one family appears to have lived in Fauldhouse, West Lothian. Does this family looks familiar to anyone ? Thanks, Heather Nova Scotia, Canada

    3. Hi Leslie, I am not sure if you and other listers are aware of the Scotland BMD exhange. http://www.sctbdm.com/ It now contains just over 35,000 entries, at the start of this year (or was it last year), the Sue the lady who was doing the hard graft was looking forward to hitting 20,000... Posting to the exchange is easy, I post every OPR transcriptions and all my Scotland people BMD downloads, I do mine in bulk lots of 75 to 100,(which reminds me I better get one away) but you can post an entry at a time, its very very easy. Of course its always worth a look because Sue is always doing updates, just a word of warning if you post an entry one day don't expect it to be up the next day. This site is the by far the easist BMD exchange to naviagate. However it does not include census enties. cheers John Dods Wellington, New Zealand > >-----Original Message----- > > From: Leslie Hastings > [mailto:leslie@kodiak-web-design.com] > > Sent: Saturday, December 11, 2004 9:39 PM > > To: MIDLOTHIAN-L@rootsweb.com > > Subject: [MLN] Free extra names - BMD and census > >I've > > just finished the first installment of a project > > I've been meaning to > > tackle for a long time.
