    1. Treatise of Scots parishes and language
    2. Chris Green
    3. Gordon, it looks like more people are interested in reading that treatise than you probably originally thought. It sounds like it might be worth having but I didn't want to bother you for a copy, especially since several people have been asking you for a copy every day since you made the offer. I remember you originally wrote that you would not post it to the list because it is too long. But I have seen other people break down long documents and post one part every day until the whole document had been posted. I'm sure the list manager, or anybody else, would not mind if you posted, say, 10 to 20 kb a day until the whole treatise was done. That way you'll save yourself from having to send a personal copy to dozens of people, perhaps for the next few months! And all those other people, such as me, who didn't want to bother you, could also get a copy. If the treatise really is too long even to be broken down into parts, maybe most people on this list are more interested in the part that deals with the parishes, rather than the part about the Scots language. 1. Baillie
    2. Hi, my name is Paula Baillie and I'm new to this list. I've been working at my genealogy for about 8 years now. I do have one John Baillie who is my brick wall. According to Columbiana County, Ohio, US census for 1860 and 1870, for the age recorded, he would have been born in 1832. The Census for 1880 has him being born in 1830. His Ohio Volunteer Infantry paperwork says he was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and that he was 34 on Sept 10, 1861 (born 1827). It also states he was 5 ft 7 1/2 in tall, had fair complexion, grey eyes, brown hair and by occupation was a machinist. I have not found him in US census for Ohio or the surrounding states for the year 1850, however I do know he was married Aug 21, 1857 in Salem, Ohio, USA. He died in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, Aug 21, 1893, before it was a state so there is no death record to give me and exact birth date. The obituary states he was 67 years old, which would make him born in 1826. I do not know if he had siblings or what his parents names were. I have not found any immigration records for him. As you can see I have documents that state he could have been born any time between about 1826 and 1832. Does anyone have any idea how I might continue this search?
