    3. Jennifer, Thanks for that link for another West Lothian source, I appreciate it and have signed up. James Ross and Mary Garden were born circa 1818 - 1820's, an estimate. The LDS database lists both of them, but does not have any information other than their names as parents to Daniel Ross. When I looked on FreeCen, the only date listed next to Bathgate was (WLN-1841). I did try all the names I know, however, there were no hits. There was no other dated census available in the scroll down list, but I admit, I could be missing it - I am very new to all this. I was using the scroll down menu for location of census as Bathgate. Was the link you sent for census completion for a date other than 1841? If so, I'd love to know how to get to the proper database. Thanks for the help, Allison

    3. Hello Archie, Very nice to hear from you and thank you for the offer of the photo. I would like it, however, I'd best give Ainslie a head's up so that she doesn't keel over at the surprise! I haven't mentioned anything to her yet! You'd be surpised about Floridians - most of us don't have tans at all! That's for the tourists. Most of us are pretty careful of the strong sun; but there are those beach devotees (I'm not one of them with my fair skin)! Thanks again, and I'll be in touch before we leave. T-minus 19 days! Allison ---------- Alison, I saw your mail in MLN tonight. What a coincidence, since I just got a small photo today from my brother-in-law. It shows my mother-in-law walking in Uphall with Mr. Petty and behind them ( the only one with a lovely smile for the camera ) is Ainslie, with her mother. My wife and her siblings could not help in you research, but know the family well. If you want the photo, let me know and I can deliver it to Ainslie's home in Uphall. Kind Regards, Archie Gilbert. PS I'll be looking out for a lady with a Florida tan in Uphall .-----

    2. Allison Vidal
    3. Hello List Members, Does anyone have access to the 1861 census for Linlithgow or West Lothian? I have documentation regarding my ggrandfather born in Bathgate listed in the County of Linlithgow. Do I understand correctly that Linlithgow is now catelogued in West Lothian, or am I on the wrong track with the geographical delineations? I am searching for the James Ross/Mary Garden Ross family in 1861. I have the birth certs for 2 of their children born 1856 (James) and 1858 (Daniel, my ggrandfather), both born in Bathgate. The family later (perhaps even a generation later) relocated to Uphall, but I am not certain when. I'd like to know about other children and their birthplaces and particularly where Mary Garden was born as I am stiking out entirely on her (so are the LDS! :) Thanks very much, Allison Tampa, FL
