When you download a page from the OPRs it will invariably contain not just the record you wanted, but a few other records as well. I thought it would be a good idea to transcribe these rather just leaving them to moulder in my computer files, and actually began transcribing my OPRs for the Angus list quite some while back (most of my ancestors were from Angus and Perthshire). However, I also have ancestors from Midlothian, the main names being URQUHART, ROBERTSON and KERR (from Dalkeith and South Leith). Best wishes, Sue

    3. Hi Jean, My URQUHARTs are: William URQUHART married Mary ROBERTSON circa 1762 (I'm still looking for their marriage). Children were: 1. William URQUHART, born 16 Dec 1763; bap 18 Dec 1763, Dalkeith, Midlothian. 2. John URQUHART, born 7 Feb 1766; bap 9 Feb 1766, Dalkeith, Midlothian. 3. Anne URQUHART, born 7 Aug 1767; bap 9 Aug 1767, Dalkeith, Midlothian. 4. Alexander URQUHART, born 31 Mar 1770; bap 8 Apr 1770, Dalkeith, Midlothian. (Alexander URQUHART became a Cork Cutter; he married Margaret KERR on 4 Jan 1788, South Leith, Midlothian, and the family eventually moved to Dundee). 5. Thomas URQUHART, born 22 Sep 1773; bap 27 Sep 1773, Dalkeith, Midlothian. Any connection, do you think? 3. Hi Peter, I'm afraid that was all the info there was for the birth in question. Have you had a look in the OPRs at Scotland's People? Or, just a thought - did your Alexander die after 1855? If so, his death certificate should give his parents' names. Have you found your Alexander in any of the censuses? Happy to help if I can. I wonder if this was perhaps his Father. Peter in NZ

    3. Hi Jean, Yes, I do have copies of the OPRs, but I'm afraid they're very large files (about a megabyte each) and as I'm only on dial-up, they would take me ages to send. More importantly, I would be in breach of copyright if I was to share copies of the original images, and I don't want to fall out with the powers-that-be! ;-) I hate being negative, but I hope you understand my predicament... However, the good news is that I've ensured that all the details from the original OPR page are in my transcripts, including footnotes, so you haven't lost out on any of the info - what you see is all there was (pre-1855 records were often quite brief, and little more than a couple of names and a date)!
