As it was sent to a resident of Edinburgh, it isn't "off subject". I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it posted to the list, although there is little to no chance of it pertaining to my own family. I just find things of this nature terribly interesting ... regardless. Toni ~ Ontario

    3. I have had in my possession for quite a few years now a letter dated the 20th January 1831 from a Henry Cheape of Contts & Co in London. The letter advises payment of 100 pounds less Fees ( 22/3) P98.17.9 for JAMES LINDSAY. The Letter was addressed to DAVID WEMYSS at Mrs Stewarts, 3 Albyn Place Edinburgh. It took two days to arrive in Edinburgh and cost 1/2 p. Thought Listers may be interested in it and for those out there with links to those named in the letter. 3. Hi Margaret Thanks for the input. The Thomas (cabinet maker) can now be removed from our possibility list as my Thomas was intested into the Sappers and Miners late 1841 and by 1851 was living in New Zealand. 3. Murray: The following entries are from my web site, www.scotsfind.org. They are the Thomas ROBERTSONs born in Edinburgh during the period 1810 - 1816. The name at the end of each entry is the child's mother's name. The name before the parish name is the father's name. There is a 7 year difference between John's and Margaret's ages so I would wonder if they are husband and wife or related in some other way.
