    1. [MIDLOTHIAN] FINLAY & CHARLES of Polmont and Edinburgh
    2. Neville Potter
    3. This is my first posting to this list, and I am hoping to make contact with anyone researching the family of the Reverend William FINLAY (b 1753), Minister of Polmont parish Stirlingshire 1778-1800, and chaplain to George, Prince of Wales. Of his ten children, I am researching Gilbert Laurie FINLAY (1792-1872) and the latter’s wife Grace Hunter CHARLES (b 1799), but I would be very interested to find out what happened to the other descendants. Best wishes to all for 2008. Neville Potter New York _________________________________________________________________ Your Future Starts Here. Dream it? Then be it! 2. Wendy
    3. Hello Listers This is my first posting and am trying to find anyone who has this William in their tree. My husband's grandmother had a birth certificate in her possession that I can't fit in to anyone in my husband's Lindsay line. William LINDSAY was born in December 1862 at Dean Burn and the birth registered in the Parish of Fala & Soutra County of Midlothian. William's mother was named as Janet LINDSAY (servant) but no father was named. The informant was Jane LINDSAY (aunt). My LINDSAY line seems to have originated in Largie Fife in the early 1800's and then moved to Blackford/Auchterarder/Logie in Perth and Stirling. Ring a bell with anyone?? Cheers Wendy in Australia

    3. Wendy, I have no connection to this family but the following may be of interest to you. If you were to look at the batch containing William's birth you would also see the birth of a Jane Lindsay of the same Parish (Fala and Soutra) b 4 Dec 1858, mother's name Janet Lindsay. There were no other births in that batch from 1855-75 that included the name Lindsay. Also, there were no listed marriages with that surname in the same timeframe. 2. Eric and Judy Douthie
    3. Hello to the Midlothian mailing list. I hope someone can help me. I am looking for a James MITCHELSON in the 1841 census. His occupation would either be 'painter and glazier' or Chelsea out pensioner. His wifes name was Harriet, two of his children would have been named James and Robert. I would be very appreciative of any help at all. Regards Judy Douthie

    3. Hello Richard, I am sorry but don't know if I did know more about Margaret that what I have here. As i said I did have some information before but it could have been from another one of their children. But have lost the data now as I had to recover my information I have on my tree now through a back up of an older tree I had on disk. My family tree maker had been playing up abit recently so had to take it off and reload a different version again. I think there is a Margaret Downie nee Robertson death in 1864 on Scotlands People but dont have any credit at the moment, Will not have for a little while now what with christmas and big bills to pay. Will keep your email on file so wil be able to check the data when I can afford to go on Scotlands People again and download the death for Margaret Downie (Robertson) Hopefully it will tell me who her parents were then. Thank you, Kind Regards Pamela ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Robertson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 07, 2007 1:47 PM Subject: Re: [MIDLOTHIAN] DAVID DOWNIE AND MARGARET ROBERTSON > pamela groves wrote: >> Hello List, >> HELP Information wanted on >> My 3X Great Grandparents were DAVID DOWNIE AND MARGARET ROBERTSON >> >> Their son JAMES DOWNIE was my 2X Great Grandfather >> >> Do anyone on this list or someone have these people in their tree PLEASE >> I did have some information before, but my Family Tree Maker kept playing >> up >> and when I retreaved a backup it did not have all my data on about the >> DOWNIE family. >> >> >> DAVID DOWNIE was born in 1802 in Glenisla, Angus, Scotland. >> >> MARGARET ROBERTSON was also born about 1803 in Glenisla, Angus, Scotland. >>snip >> Do anyone know what happened to their other children. >> Pamela J Groves > > Pamela: > I can't help with the DOWNIE children, but looking over the ROBERTSON > marriage databases on my web site, www.scotsfind.org, I find a marriage > for Margaret and David (20 Apr 1823, film no. 993435). > How sure are you of Margaret's birth year.
