    3. Barbara I had great luck with these two ladies with Edinburgh.gov.uk. It has been quite a while since I interacted with them but you could try them. 3. Hello Shelia, Thank you for responding to my email. My 3X Great Grandparents were David Rodger and Margaret McAlpine. They were married on 14 October 1825 at Musselburgh, Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland. I have David's year of birth about 1794 as I have a Christening for him on 14 February 1794 I have David as the son of David Rodger and Elizabeth Baillie. But don't think David Rodger father of My 2X Great Grandfather William Rodger can be the son of David and Elizabeth Rodger as he was still alive in 1891 census although he was born about 1804. Do you have any more data on the David Rodger that is in your tree born 1807. My Rodgers were born in Inveresk, Midlothian, Scotland and mostly stayed in Musselburgh and Edinburgh and some moved to Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Thank you for any help I might receive. 3. In the back of my mind I believe that a few years ago on this mailing list it was stated that there was a Register of Burials in Edinburgh. This Registerwas alleged to include the names and burial ground of each person who died in Edinburgh. I can't remember whether it was on-line or that a postal address was given at the time. Does anyone know about this register and how one accesses it in 2008 ? Budd

    2. David McGill
    3. Hi Budd My great grandfather, David Ramage, was a brassfounder who went into his father Peter's business in Candlemaker Row. He has proved to be very elusive as I have yet to find details of his death. So far I have established that he died sometime between 1901 and 1904. The business seems to have been sold, or it moved out of Candlemaker Row in the mid 1890s. As far as I know the street was probably a mixture of commercial and residential properties at that time. If you look at the photos on the web site mentioned by Ann the second picture of Candlemaker Row is looking down it from George IV Bridge beside the statue of Greyfriars Bobby. The numbering of the properties has changed over the years and I couldn't find number 90 on a recent visit to Edinburgh. I think it was on the left hand side of the street as you look at the photo but down towards the bottom so it is out of shot. No 88 should be next to it. Hope this helps a little. Best wishes David

    3. Hello List, Are there any Rodger researchers on this list please. I have seen Username Patricaannadams on Ancestry.co.uk and know that she is researching the same Rodger family as I am. I was given a Voucher Card worth 10 credits on last Friday evening and went on and logged on and followed what they said you had to do. But as soon as i tried to put in the 19 digit number for the card it said Sorry, something didn't work correctly processing your order. So I kept trying again and again and nothing happened. So telephoned Ancestry with the phone number given on the same page but still have not got any where with it. I telephoned Ancestry twice on Saturday and the last time I spoke to a lady she was American so I will not be phoning them again in case it is America I am being transvered to. They told me to telephone back on Monday to speak to a Technician, but have not as I can't afford to keep phoning and getting no where. I have tried again today and still nothing is happening when I find something I want to look at It still will not let me, it just goes into the Upgrade page to pay again. Which I tried to even buy more credits with my credit card and have done so, but still getting the same page again when I find something i am interested in looking at on Ancestry. So I now have 32 Credits and can't use them. as I had ten credits on the Voucher then the lady said she would give me another 10 for the inconvenience of not being able to use the ten I have and gave me extra days to use them then i bought another 12 and still can't use any of them. I have emailed Ancestry to complain but have not heard anything yet. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them please, And what did they do about it? So this is why I have asked for help in any one else on this list that knows of a person named Patricia Ann Adams researching the Rodger surname please. Thank you in advance for any help I might receive. Kind Regards Pamela J Groves Nee Paxton

    3. Hello Ann: I am embaraseed to say that I was not aware of the website address that you provided. No wonder it has been recognized as one of the "Top 100 Scottish Websites" - particularly interesting for those with ancestors who were born and lived in Edinburgh. Thank you very much ! Budd

    3. Hi Albert: Thank you for your information on the above. That was exactly what I was looking for. My ancestors are all from all parts of Scotland from Nairn to the New castketon in Roxburghshire. I can use the National Library Website address you provided to fill in some gaps in my own knowledge and to add to notes of my ancestors. Thanks again Budd
