My thanks to Ann for her care of the list in the past and also for handing the Admin reins over to me. Some of you already know me; for some of you, I'm an unknown quantity. For those who don't already know: I'm a Londoner and I've been researching for nearly half a century (and that's a scary thought!). I have family connections in almost every county in England plus some in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, several European countries as well as North and South America and Australasia. At last count there were 10 different religions, faiths and denominations within the family. I admin a number of county, area and surname lists. I don't bite, at least not often :)) Inevitably there will be some changes but I think they will be relatively minor. Ann and I run our lists in a similar fashion. There are two Rootsweb rules I enforce: The first is no HTML/RTF. Apart from enlarging messages considerably and being used to pass viruses, not everyone has broadband. Large messages can be costly to download for anyone uses a dial-up or mobile connection. The other one is no requests for or about living or potentially living people, please. Not everyone shares our love of genealogy and family history. The best way to find out more is to not upset newly found cousins. Please keep requests and queries pre-WWI. The only other rules are stay on topic please and no crossposting. The latter is when one mail is sent to a number of lists and/or private addresses. Not everyone will be on the same lists as the sender and some recipients may not be on any lists. If it's necessary to send the same message to other lists, copy and paste of the body of the mail into a fresh one. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
Welcome, Charani. We'll miss Ann, but I always enjoy reading your posts too and I'm sure we shall be in good hands. Thank you for agreeing to look after us! Patricia W
Good Luck ............ I know you will do a good job. Joe
