Hello all you helpful people! In 1851 my gggrandfather Samuel BOWDEN b 1800 (St. Andrew Holborn ) is living in Patriot St. ( just south of Commercial Rd ) with his wife Sarah (b 1801 Canterbury) and children Edwin, Mary and George. He is an engineer. By 1871, Samuel is a widower and an inmate in Mile End Old Towm Workhouse. There appears to be no sign of either Samuel or Sarah in 1861 although I have located all the children. I've 'trawled' the roads around the area they lived in in 1851 and used every combination I can think of for names etc. I've looked at all the areas that could be missing in 1861, but their whereabouts remain a mystery. Sarah obviously dies before 1871 and there are a couple of Death regs. for Whitechapel which are possibilities so I may send for the certs. I have a possible death for Samuel in 1880 ( he is not located in 1881 ). Can anyone help, please??!! Jan
