If I remember rightly the coroner's reports belonged to them. They could throw them away if they wanted. They only kept the interesting ones. It was only after about 1900 the reports started being kept. Newspaper reports are more likely to exist. The coroner was told about any sudden deaths even if they were from natural causes.
