Any descendants out there You can do a fairly simple check (using freebmd) by putting 'surname Nathan', name of spouse 'Barnard' I did check the Golding-Barnard combination which showed no obvious chioldren 1912-30. However, given these two names and the other pair. it seems likely that the family were Jewish. Although they were pretty conscientious about registering formalities, they may at some stage have used a variation reflecting an original German-style surname ( Barnet, Goldschmidt, Goldfaber etc. I do know that the grandfather of an old friend of mine (who was a furniture manufacturer in Bethnal Green) morphed to Golding in the 1880s, and had thought it possible there was a connection, but this didn't work out simply.
