    3. Hi All I have a bit of a mystery I have on the 1911 census a family George & Eliza Storey in Bethnal Green now on it they say they have 2 sons George James Storey age 1 I know he was born September 1909 then there is another son George 2 days old Why on earth would they call the 2nd son the same name as the 1st especially as he not died & in fact he lives until 1989 but can't find much more about the 2nd George The census shows the address as 43 Duncan Sq. London Fields Hackney So thoughts on this would be appreciated, I did find 2 births one in Pancras for an Arthur & another in Hackney for a Joseph Regards Janice

Not such an unusual occurrence as it might seem. One was a foster child who was mistakenly given the family's surname. The second son was mistakenly given the same name as his older sibling. One was a nephew but given as a son by mistake. There could be any number of other reasons that there's no way of knowing now. > So thoughts on this would be appreciated, I did find 2 births one in Pancras > for an Arthur & another in Hackney for a Joseph Have you followed these up to see if either might be one of the brothers or related in some way? I've not looked at the 1911 census as it may be in contravention of the T+Cs covering it. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk http://www.savethegurkhas.co.uk/

    3. It may just be they hadn't thought of a name for him yet as he was only 2 days old, so just called him George too! 3. The thought crosses my mind that maybe their babies were all given the same first name and known by their second name. Perhaps at two days old the second name had not been chosen Michael Allbrook -----Original Message----- From: middlesex_county_uk-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:middlesex_county_uk-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Janice12 Sent: 27 September 2010 13:20 To: Middlesex List ) Subject: [MDX] A bit of a Mystery Hi All I have a bit of a mystery I have on the 1911 census a family George & Eliza Storey in Bethnal Green now on it they say they have 2 sons George James Storey age 1 I know he was born September 1909 then there is another son George 2 days old Why on earth would they call the 2nd son the same name as the 1st especially as he not died & in fact he lives until 1989 but can't find much more about the 2nd George The census shows the address as 43 Duncan Sq.
