The family of George Broome and Selina Hewett are in the 1891 census at 299 Brunswick Road, Bromley/Bow. Children: George b.1885, William T.b.1888, and Amy Emily b.1890, census states born Poplar. The family are not found in the 1901 census and I am advised that the enumerator's page for the last address indicates that the householder left taking the forms with him. This was a consequence of the death of mother Selina a week or two prior to census night. George senior later remarried (detail found); George junior went on the become vaudeville/musichall star George Clark (detail found), but to date nothing further positive found for William and Amy in any records (ie, 1911 census, WW1 records and Free BMD's). An unproven family story suggests William was either injured or killed whilst cycling to/from Southend on Sea before/after a vaudeville act with his father. By 1911 George senior was a publican in a mews behind Buckingham Palace with a new family. Commonality of names precludes anything positive on William and nothing at all for Amy. (I did think she may have been placed with other Hewett family members in the East End but nothing found there.) The Broome connections are in Hartwich, Essex, but George senior was born in West Ham. Perhaps Amy was placed into an orphanage? Any suggestions or advice appreciated. Les Hewett, Napier, New Zealand.
