Hazel, Depending on the date midwives were empowered to conduct baptisms i8f the baby was at risk. HTH Peter Hello I am researching a family in Bozeat and on a few of the baptisms it reads: "baptised private" does this mean a home baptism due to the possibilty the child is sick.
