In Bucks, where one soldier of the Scots Guards settled in the early C18, the name starts as MacEwenm becomes Macune, Macquin, Mackwine Macqueen. The same may well have happened to later immigrants. Of course, he could have been a very recent incomer from Scotland or Ireland, and the earlier marriage to be sought there.
