A new website launched today by The National Archives (TNA) aims to give clear, fast, and easy access to legislation, from Magna Carta through to the latest statutes. At www.legislation.gov.uk there are details of everything on the statute book, in one place, and free of charge. A quick play about with the search engine on the site suggests it to be very easy to use. A very simple search term such as "marriage" or "birth" seems to work efficiently. I haven't yet played with the Advanced Search facility. Could be very useful to determine the law that applied at a particular date, in relation to family events. Ann Middx Admin
