Ellen Holmes and John Wilbraham married Dec. 27, 1907. Her father Wm. Holmes, Furniture Remover, her witness: Jane Holmes. Mary Holmes in 1901 census, daughter of Wm. & Ellen Holmes spoke of Jack Wilbraham taking the family to the races in a charabanc. Ellen Wilbraham died October 6, 1971, widow of John Wilbraham a Race Course Official. Ellen's place of birth shown as London on the 19th Jan. 1888. On the 1911 census it shows her birth 1888, Hackney. Also, same address Jane Garrood, spelt wrong, married to Adolphus Garrood, their brother-in-law. Jane Holmes birth cert. shows 4 Feb. 1892, 30 Horatio Street. Registered Bethnal Green. I can find no record of Ellen Holmes in any census prior to 1911, or record of birth in the years 1866 to 1899. She was also called Nell. William and Ellen Holmes, don't show up prior to the 1881 census for marriages or births. I would like to know where the Ellen Holmes, that married John Wilbraham in 1907, was in the years before their marriage and I would like to get her birth certificate.
