Thanks so much Anne, The 1930 birth date for Sarah Ann Godfrey was given to me by a descendant of her son Samuel Walter Ross who went to Aust with my G.Grandfather. I have been searching for her marriage to Samuel Ross and I have been unable to find any mention of her in census or anything, but I did find a possible death for her in 1853 at St Giles London. It would be a good idea to buy Samuel Walters birth cert to know for sure, as I was told the two elder children you found are those of Samuel Bennett Ross & Sarah Ann Godfrey. It looks like they were baptised after Samuel married Elizabeth Godfrey as it is well after their births and she is named as the mother on their baptisms. If Elizabeth was their mother they were illegitimate. I have Samuel and Elizabeths marriage certificate. They were married on 3 June 1854 at St Giles in the Fields. Samuel Bennett Ross widower aged 38 and Elizabeth Adelaide Godfrey spinster aged 25. I also have my G Grandfather John Eyles Ross' birth cert. Samuel was born in Birmingham, so perhaps that is another avenue to persue. Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. HI Nan, Just to add a little more to your confusion ;-))) I found another baptism that might fit with the couple who married in 1835. Baptism St. Peter Saffron Hill, Camden, July 23rd. 1843 Ellen dau. Samuel and Sarah Ross no. 24 Greville Street fathers occ. Coach Maker. Born Oct. 3rd. 1837. Being noted as Coach Maker could mean that he was in the coach making trade and that would cover a few trades, Carpenters & Joiners, Wheelwrights, Upholsterers, maybe this last occupation included the making of the fringing for the upholstery. I know this is stretching it a bit but I thought I would point this entry out to you in case it becomes relevant later on. Have you found Samuel Ross with any of his own family in the 1851 census? I tried to find him anywhere in England, born about 1816 but found nothing that looked like him at all. If you have found him in 1851 who is he with and where? Regards Jenny DeAngelis Spain.
