He became a seafarer and first went to sea in 1839 as a steward & cook. He also served in the Royal Navy and had one year in foreign service. He lived at Doctors Common when not at sea and this information came from the Registry of Shipping & Seaman, in the National Archives. I've consulted the usual sources for his baptism/birth record, but it seems as though Clerkenwell parish records have not yet been made publicly available. Therefore I would be grateful for any advice as to how I could access these records - if they still exist, or if there are any plans to release them. I need to know the names of his parents to confirm his identity as he gave them as William Ferguson & Ann Thompson at the time of his marriage. Thank you, Marj Luhrs Ballarat Victoria Australia ************************************** Send your List messages using **PLAIN TEXT** and always **TRIM AWAY** superfluous old messages in replies.
