Many thanks to Nivard and Andy for their suggestions. I don't know whether or not Gladys was a person of note, but certainly colourful I think. She married quite young to a genleman of leisure when she was an actress, but divorced in 1913 and married a man of action, Alan Hartree, early aero club member, later Major in Indian Army. After his death in 1930 she seems to have stayed in India as a nurse until 1946 when independence was looming, after that I know nothing until her death so her dog breeding must have been a later role.
