Hi Vivien I've had a good search and can't find it listed anywhere. It is possible there is a copy in the Essex archives as yet uncatalogued, so you could try here; http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/GetPage.aspx?ID=39 An amendment to your post - it's PRIESTLEY (according to the research done on google). I suspect as there are a number of titles in this series (I found reference to at least 13) the publications may have been quite small and were more booklets than books. You could also post on the Essex Rootsweb in case anyone has a copy and can assist. Two good sites to check for worldwide bookshops is bookfinder.com and abebooks. The original registers for St Giles were very recently given up by the church and deposited at LMA, but I understand they have not yet been catalogued (or digitised). HTH Judy London, UK -----Original Message----- From: middlesex_county_uk-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:middlesex_county_uk-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Caroline Bradford The LMA have the St Giles registers on microfilm (originals still at the church), not the Westminster City Archives, so you won't find them on FMP. Hi Adrian I am out of Ancestry at present (whose search is bad enough itself) So after a fight with findmypasts search engine (I eventually won but it took some time and effort) The road is Median Road Clapton Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 24/06/2014 13:55, Adrian wrote: > Thomas J Wheeler, a meat salesman aged 30, born in Shoreditch, > Middlesex, was living with his wife and children in Hackney at the time > of the 1871 census. Hi Adrian It is Median Road (confirmed from the census street index at http://tinyurl.com/qaj5lv2. Hi Lynn Large private cemeteries were established around the edge if London in the 1830s and 1840s. The 1852 Metropolitan Burials Act gave parish burial boards the authority to establish municipal cemeteries and many of these had already opened when a succession of Burial Acts in the 1850s closed the London churchyards to new burials. Some burial boards had their own cemeteries and others leased space in private or municipal ones. If your ancestors had money, they would have been more likely to have opted for a cemetery burial rather than a churchyard one, even before the latter were closed. St Giles had a bit more space than some churches in the centre of London, because they had had the foresight to lease some space near to the old St Pancras church, but by the time this was closed in the mid 1850s it was pretty grimly overcrowded. If they were "ordinary" folk, they would have probably had to rely on the designated local provision. In the case of St Giles, I think this was the Great Northern Cemetery in Southgate. The registers are still at the cemetery but they will charge you for a search. Best wishes Caroline > > Where would I find the burial information for ancestors of mine who lived > and died in St Giles, Drury Lane area in the 1850s?Would they have been > buried in the local churchyard, or by this time would it have been the larger > municipal cemeteries that were being used? > Thank you for any assistance. > Lynn > > > > . ate: 06/19/14

After that date, likely to have been on of the Big Seven or the new civic cemeteries. Before that date, some of the latter were already open, but everyone had the right to burial in his own parish churchyard.. I haven't my copy of London Ceneteries and Crematoria readily to hand, but Google should be your friend. Try the GENUKI pages for Middlesex and for London, and google "Cemeteries in London" Kind regards, John Henley.
Have you tried Deceased online to see if they have burial records for St Giles https://www.deceasedonline.com/ Rose

Possibly one of the municipal cemeteries. I've found burials for some of mine on Ancestry (with images) even thought St Giles comes under Westminster. FindMyPast are supposed to have the Westminster registers but I've not been able to find anything on there. You could also try Deceased Online. It's not complete yet and it is a subscription site. I've had some luck there without getting a subscription. I'm sending this to you as well as to the list although the list doesn't seem to be working yet. -- Connie http://oursalmons.wordpress.com/

Priestly. Can't find it in Canada or any of the online used book sellers I know about. Have also checked my local libraries and online libraries. This book apparantely has a lot of info and some family trees concerning the Branfil family and it's descendants of which I am one. I presently have the will of a Capt John Redman d. 1763 (m. Mary Branfill) both buried in St. Dunstan of MEOT, which mentions a number of relatives I am interested in. Any assistance appreciated. Vivien Martin
Thomas J Wheeler, a meat salesman aged 30, born in Shoreditch, Middlesex, was living with his wife and children in Hackney at the time of the 1871 census. (RG10 325 35). Although I can make out the house number, 26, I have ben unable to decipher the name of the road. Can anyone help me, please? Adrian (other Mudons)
We are back in business again after a week's silence. Yes, there was a problem: a DDoS attack which, for those who don't know, is where a site's servers are made to believe there has been excessive traffic and they crash. Anyone with a Twitter or Facebook account will already know what happened. Please *NO* test mails. If you get this mail, all is well. -- List Admin, Middx
Can anyone help me please regarding the family of John (born 1855 in Kensington) and Eliza RIMELL. They had a daughter, Ellen, who was baptised on 18 Apr 1891 and their residence is written as 40 St Catherine's Street in the parish of St James, Norlands - Kensington. Searching on Ancestry for various spellings of RIMELL and I Have not found them. I also tried using just the street name to see if I could see who was living there in 1891 but I have had no success with this. I see from internet searches that the street may also be called St Katherine's Road but this gave no better result. If anyone can find this family or who was living at that address in 1891 I would be very grateful Peter Rimell
Hi, Just wondering if anyone is descended from or knows what happened to Thomas BRISTOW and Keziah WEBB. Thomas and Keziah married by banns on 6 October 1787 at Shadwell St Paul. I have been trying to find death records for them or records of baptisms of children for this couple - so far without luck. If anyone can help I would gratefully appreciate it! Regards, Karen
Where would I find the burial information for ancestors of mine who lived and died in St Giles, Drury Lane area in the 1850s?Would they have been buried in the local churchyard, or by this time would it have been the larger municipal cemeteries that were being used? Thank you for any assistance. Lynn
Hi Maureen. Have you tried contacting the tennis club itself to ask if they have any record of past members? I found an address for the Lammas Park Tennis Club as follows: Will To Win, The Tennis Pavillion, Lammas Park, Culmington road, London W 13 9 NJ Te. 0208 84 00888 Might be worth a try, if your Frank Middleton was a bit of a star at the club they might have some record of the cups he won. If not that then they might be able to point you in the right direction to find out more. This is the webpage for Will To win, Lammas Park. http://www.lta.org.uk/Places-To-Play/Details/Overview/?p2p=1-64TG0 worth a try perhaps! Regards Jenny DeAngelis >>Frank was my mother's younger brother and I understood from her that he was good at tennis and played for Middlesex as a young man. He played at Lammas Park tennis club at South Ealing. Frank was born 1915 so I would think that the years from c1931 to 1940 was when he played. I recall that occasionally I watched him play at Lammas when I was a child. My mother also mentioned that he had won some cups but when I asked his stepson about them, he believed that if anything of that nature was in the house then they would have gone in the house clearance. Does anybody know about the tennis club? Where would I find out information as I understand that the Lammas Park Tennis Club has now changed to a sports centre.<<
I am trying again in my efforts to find out more about the parents of HENRY WOODMAN. HENRY WOODMAN was the last and only surviving child born to JAMES and OLIVE WOODMAN who were both deceased by 1828 . Henry was baptised 24/4/1825 in St. Margaret, Uxbridge, Middlesex. He married MARGARET or MATILDA BRAY 5/4/1850 in RUISLIP. Among his children were twin boys HENRY and WILLIAM who are 7 years old in the 1851 census. I am hoping that someone recognises these ancestors and can contact me off-line. Many thanks for any possible help. April.
Thanks Nivard, I did send an email to the local history centre (Dr Jonathan Oates) but didn't receive a reply or an acknowledgement. This was almost a year ago. I will have to try again. The article you mention has been included in a book about Ealing. My thanks, Maureen. Milton Keynes.
