Thanks, Anne and Caroline. I'm moving foward with this at last thanks to your help. Yes, I do have the Will but Edward is not mentioned at all which led me to think he must have died young. Now I have found on familysearch the marriage between Edward LAWRENCE, son of William, at St James, Westminster on 10 March 1839 to Charlotte Caroline DOISY. Although Edward would have been only 15-16, I now believe it must be the right family as I can't find any of them in any census. Thanks so much to both of you. Thanks very much for your reply, Jan. The Edwin you mention was brother to another William LAWRENCE , sometime Lord Mayor of London. Our Edwin married Edith Strange. in Ercilla, Chile in 1870. The only photograph we have of Edwin's descendants includes Edith but not her husband. Edith is apparently buried in the Royal Navy Mausoleum in Valparaiso....not sure about Edwin. I cannot find any school records for their offspring although surviving documents state that the LAWRENCE children returned to England for their education. Sorry, I can't find anything more but would really appreciate some assistance if possible please, Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: "jan royal" <janroyal2000@hotmail.com> To: <middlesex_county_uk@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, June 26, 2010 3:33 PM Subject: Re: [MDX] Edwin LAWRENCE > > is the Edwin Lawrence Barrister living 10 Palace Gardens Kensington on 1891 (b.1837) your Edwin? > > > > > > > >> From: neil.hearn3@bigpond.com >> To: middlesex_county_uk@rootsweb.com >> Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2010 12:02:21 +1000 >> Subject: [MDX] Edwin LAWRENCE >> >> Hello again, >> I would like to find any reference to the early life of Edwin LAWRENCE who was said to have been born in London in 1840 please. Hi Jan I very much doubt that this marriage is "yours" for two reasons: 1) Assuming you have Edward's birth date right, a marriage at 15-16 would be phenomenally unlikely. Marriage at such a young age (for a man) in the early 19th century was very rare generally, and for the son of a gentleman (or even a prosperous man of business) practically unheard of. 2) The 1841 census shows an Edward and Charlotte LAWRENCE in St Pancras with a one year old son Edward. This Edward's baptism in 1840 (just right following an 1839 marriage) gives his mother's full name as Charlotte Caroline, thus making it very probable that these are the pair whose marriage Anne found on FreeBMD. Hope this helps Caroline > Thanks, Anne and Caroline. I'm moving foward with this at last thanks > to your help. At a rough guess if he was buried, I would say it would definitely be in the ground <g> How about posting the name , age etc there are some burials online , that is assuming he was buried and not used in one of the hospitals , many were Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Listers.. Les Hewett A good book on Australian War Brides is "Love & War - Stories of War Brides from the Great War to Vietnam" by Carol Fellows and published by Bantam Books. I also found a copy of the officer's diary for the ship my grandmother came out on as a WW1 war bride, amongst the records retained by the Department of Defence in Canberra - makes for fascinating reading. regards Cherrie from Oz

With respect Ann, this sort of post rarely get a meaningful reply Try posting at least a few names and details that might help others to know if they have a connection (and preferably also question as most listers will simply delete your post as being of no interest) There are 55 FISHERs in 1901 with an Ealing connection alone Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Is anyone researching the Fisher family who lived on Hanger Hill Farm > Ealing in the early years of the last century? > Ann Davenport
