    3. Hello Hazel Continuing on from the tips you've received, a general one applying all over the UK: you may find it worth keeping an eye on shifting country borders down the centuries, for places that are in Staffordshire now but may have been in Lancashire, Cheshire, Derbyshire or beyond at other times when your ancestors were there. So occasionally it's worth crossing borders to other county lists for information as well. 3. Do you have some ages which might help locate the record please? Your posting attached my interest as I have a Henry James Hallon who was born c.1827 in Ireland, but who was living in London from 1863 when he married my ancestor Isabella Farrant until the early 1870s when they moved to Brighton. From the marriage certificate I know Henry's fathers name was James, but I have no other details on Henry before 1863 and do not know when he came over from Ireland or whether he had other family members in England. Anyone in a foreign country would be breaking UK law, and possible EU law but I'm not sure about the latter. IIRC, the Beeb did take action against some overseas people who illegally managed to watch domestic broadcasts. It was quite a while ago and I can't remember the precise details now. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
