Hi Charini, Delighted to see you "handling the Admin reins". Ann did an excellent job, but (from previous evidence on other lists) I'm sure you'll be her equal ! My thanks to Ann for her care of the list in the past and also for handing the Admin reins over to me. Some of you already know me; for some of you, I'm an unknown quantity. For those who don't already know: I'm a Londoner and I've been researching for nearly half a century (and that's a scary thought!). I have family connections in almost every county in England plus some in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, several European countries as well as North and South America and Australasia. At last count there were 10 different religions, faiths and denominations within the family. I admin a number of county, area and surname lists. I don't bite, at least not often :)) Inevitably there will be some changes but I think they will be relatively minor. Ann and I run our lists in a similar fashion. There are two Rootsweb rules I enforce: The first is no HTML/RTF. Apart from enlarging messages considerably and being used to pass viruses, not everyone has broadband. Large messages can be costly to download for anyone uses a dial-up or mobile connection. The other one is no requests for or about living or potentially living people, please. Not everyone shares our love of genealogy and family history. The best way to find out more is to not upset newly found cousins. Please keep requests and queries pre-WWI. The only other rules are stay on topic please and no crossposting. The latter is when one mail is sent to a number of lists and/or private addresses. Not everyone will be on the same lists as the sender and some recipients may not be on any lists. If it's necessary to send the same message to other lists, copy and paste of the body of the mail into a fresh one. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Ashcott, Shapwick, Greinton and Clutton, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
Dear Ann ...... so very sad that you are leaving. I have learned so much with your kind past help and guidance and whatever your future intentions may be I wish you well. Joe .. in OZ
Ann All the best for whatever else you do from now on. I've often wondered about the enormous commitment that you, as administrator, have made over time. I have admired the calm and competent way in which you have quietly managed this list and the Surrey one too. Those of us who read the lists with interest and ask questions, appreciate that the smoothness of the processes depend on the administrator. I have appreciated your advice and assistance from time to time and have great respect for your knowledge and common sense. You will be missed!. Best wishes for the future. Libby McMillan
I would like to send my thanks to youn for your hard work and dedication to the list. I am one of the quiet ones but I read it daily and have learened a lot. Everyone Thank you all for your very kind messages which are both humbling and very much appreciated. The huge number of messages received both here, and privately, makes it difficult to thank everyone in person although I am endeavouring to do so privately - albeit rather slowly, for which apologies. *In fairness to the new List Admin, time now to move on, I think.* Best wishes. Ann
Thank you, thank you for your tireless dedication, administration, information and direction of this site. I wish you well for all future endevours, projects etc... Coralie Holloway

Ann, Thank you for all you have done to be a help to us. Often bringing us back into line - and keeping us all up to date. Enjoy your new time that you will have and long may it continue and with all the fairs and events as well and may you find the answers to your brick walls. Hello Ann, I was surprised to read the sad news that you are relinquishing your admin. of this list. I know how busy you are as we have met many times over the years. I am sure everybody on this list will agree that a large vote of thanks is due to you. Well done and many regards, Rod.
Thank you for dedication over the years. I've been a very quiet member of this list and the Surrey List, but I've listened and learned a great deal. I've admired the way you've combined effectiveness with a lightness of touch, so that we've all felt we were among friends.
