ISABELLE T. RYAN DEAD: Had Been Ill for Six Months With Paralysis Isabelle Ryan, wife of Thomas A. Ryan, of 57 Corwin street died last evening at 7:30 of paralysis, after an illness of about six months. She leaves a husband and three children. Howard, attending Notre Dame, Mariette, 15 years of age, and Aileen, 9 years of age. Two sisters, Mrs. A.A. Drolett of Delphos, O. and Mrs. Peter Maurer of Nashville, Mich. And one brother, Frank Kane of Yorkville. The funeral services will be held from St. Phillips Catholic church, but definite arrangements have not been made. Sept. 18, 1951, page 2 Mrs. Winifred Byington Drolet, 53, of 13 North Fourteenth St., died at 8 p.m. Tuesday at her home. She had been ill since suffering a heart attack on Aug. 12. Mrs. Drolet, wife of Francis B. Drolet . . .Associated Package Liquor Dealers Association, was well known through her active participation in operating the Main-Oak Pharmacy in which she was a partner with her husband. She was born July 25, 1898, in Paris, Mich. and came here 25 years ago. On Aug. 29, Mr. and Mrs. Drolet celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Surviving are: her husband, their children, Francis B. Jr. of Niles, Alfred A. of Big Rapids, Louis P., Daniel E. Mary W. and George W. of Niles.; seven grandchildren; one brother Harry Byington and two sisters, Mrs. PJ Redmond and Mrs. Loyola Moreland, all of Kalamazoo. The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pifer funeral home where friends may call and the services will be conducted at 10 am. Friday by the Rev. Cletus Rose at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Drolet was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and of the Altar and Rosary society of the church. He was married July 27, 1898 in Buchanan to Rachel Huff who survives. He is also survived by a son, Harold; a grandchild, Catherine Jane; an aunt, Mrs. D.D. Pangborn and a niece Mrs. Clyde Catterlin, all of Niles, and a sister, Mrs. Alta Boyer, Seattle, Wash. He was a machinist. Feb. 12, 1880, page 3 --Mr. Samuel Sharp, one of the oldest settlers in this vicinity, crossed the dark river on Sunday last, passing away in his seventy-fourth year. Mr. Sharp was a native of Highland county, Ohio. At an early age he removed with his parents to near Richmond, Wayne county, Indiana. In 1827, he came to this place in company with Morgan Wilson and Mr. Gray, father of Esquire Bart. Gray, both well known as early settlers. Mr. Sharp remained here one season, returned to his Indiana home, came back in 1835, located a farm in the bend of the river, and has lived in this vicinity ever since. He leaves four children, the oldest 49 years of age and the youngest 35. Mr. Sharp was a member of the Disciple or Christian Church, was a good, upright Christian man, respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He died in this city, at the residence of his son-in-law, Jackson Dalrymple, and whose family desire us to return their heartfelt thanks to the neighbors who kindness during Mr. Sharp's sickness will never be forgotten. Rev. J.J. Terry, retired pastor of the Buchanan Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. He died following a heart attack Tuesday in the home of his daughter Mrs. Haines. He was born on June 12, 1863. He was married in Buchanan on June 21, 1886, to Eliza Jane Grice. For many years Mr. Madron had been engaged in farming, retiring from that occupation several years ago. Of these, all were present a the funeral except Harry of Portland, Oregon. The others, Donald of Bremen, Indiana; Frank of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Myrtle Canfield of Niles, Simeon, Leonard, Mrs. Etta Chappell, and Mrs. James Bean, all of Buchanan, together with other relatives and friends gathered a the home of the daughter, Mrs. Bean, where the funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. J.J. Terry officiated and Mrs. Lauch and Mrs. Willard sang. Mrs. Stevens spent all of her life in this community and was well known to all the older residents. Left a widow with a large family, she faced her difficult task in the spirit of a true mother and reared them all to manhood and womanhood and leaves the unusual record of almost four score years of faithful service. Burial was made in the family lot at Oak Ridge cemetery. He was an old pioneer of this section, having moved to Harris prairie, near South Bend, in 1836, and to this township in 1854. Surgical aid was immediately procurred but his injuries were such that an operation was deemed unnecessary. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his untimely end.
