Hobart married Lillie Mae Hounshell on December 5, 1950 in Toledo Ohio. He is survived by two sons, two daughters, and six great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillie, a son Kenneth H. Shipe, and both parents. Additional Comments: After Hobart retired, and lost our mom, he went back to West Virginia until his death. He worked for 43 years at Kelsey Hayes in Romulus Michigan before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, and spending time with his relatives in WV. Drolet, 75, a machinist at the Grand Trunk railroad shops for 48 years prior to his retirement 10 years ago, died at 2:30 a.m. today in his home at 261 Post avenue. His death followed by two weeks the death of his wife Susan Elizabeth whom he married here May 30, 1907. Mr. Drolet was born Dec. 25, 1874 in Kingston, Ont. He came to Battle Creek 58 years ago and went to work immediately as a machinist apprentice with the Grand Trunk railroad becoming a machinist in December, 1901. Except for a brief period with he was a gang foreman, his entire employment with the railroad was spent as a machinist. Mr. Drolet had been in ill health for five years. Since the death of his wife, he had been cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Turner of 24 Lourin court, Mr. Turner being a brother-in-law. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. She had been in ill health for about a year. She was born Nettie A. Brunney, daughter of John and Mary Ann (Tungate) Brunney in New York state, Oct. 3, 1865, and had been a Bettle Creek resident since 1888. She and Charles N. Drolet were married at Hickory Corners, July 15, 1890. He died here Nov. 2, 1918. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs, Robert J. (Inez) Bowdidge of 241 Howland and Mrs. Mary Boyd Roscoe of Wiltshire avenue; a son Charles B. January 30, 1919, page 3 Johnson W. Snyder was born in Buchanan, Mich., Feb. 9, 1850; died in Buchanan at the home of his sister, Mrs. George Howard, Jan. 27, 1919, aged 68 years, 11 months, and 8 days. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Clara A. Bostwick of Buchanan. They made their home in Buchanan for several years, then in North Manchester, Ind. for a while, then for about twenty-four years in Chicago, returning to Buchanan about a year before the death of his wife, Sept. 9, 1912. Since her death he has made his home with Mrs. Howard, except two brief periods when he tried to establish a home of his own. In the summer of 1915, he married Mrs. Juliette Rough, who died six weeks later. In the autumn of 1916 he was united in marriage in Mrs. Carrie R. Crotser of Buchanan who departed this life the following Christmas after three months of happy home life. These loses [sic] broke his heart and fell into a decline which ended in death. Mr. Snyder confessed faith in Christ in the great meeting held by Knowles Shaw in the Christian church of Buchanan in 1875. The church and his home were the delights of his life and he loved them to the last. Mr. Weese was a native of Ohio. Moved from there to Indiana, and in 1834 settled in Niles township just opposite this village. In 1840 he bought the two acres of land which has been his home ever since of Jacob Dutton. He was a blacksmith by trade and operated the first shop of the kind in this section. He held the office of Justice of the Peace in 1842, again in 1846 and 1850 and 1855. He also held the office of postmaster. The funeral services will be held at this late home, to-morrow at 9 a.m. and the remains taken to Long Lake cemetery for interment." Oct. 19 1906, page 1 Miss Phoebe Snyder was born in Berrien township, in what is known as "the bend of the river," November 22, 1843, and died at Buchanan, of the dread decease [sic], cancer, October 16, 1906 aged 62 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to Newton Sparks, February 18, 1868. In 1877 they left Michigan for the west and made their home in Sioux City, Iowa, where they resided until one year ago when they returned to Buchanan on account of the illness of her husband. Mr. Sparks died last December since which she has gradually been getting worse until finally the end came. She was a patient sufferer and longed to be at rest. Her life was marked by many deeds of kindness to the sick and suffering on account of which was has a large company of friends. She fell asleep in Jesus resting in the Gospel hope. During her last illness she had the tender watch care of a loved and loving sister and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted from her late home Thursday, October 18, 1906, at 11 o'clock, Elder Chas. A. Shook officiating, after which she was laid to rest in the Long Lake cemetery. He had engaged in farming throughout his life. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Alice Camp, by two sons, Robert and Harry Camp of Niles township, and by one daughter, Mrs. J. R. Mrs. Snyder with her family moved on to the farm where she died in 1832. They procured a title to the land direct fom the Government and have the parchment deed signed by Andrew Jackson. The instrument bears no record file which would show that it had never been recorded.
