He had been ill the past year. He was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Wakeshma Township. On June 23, 1946, he married Margaret E. KLEIN in Battle Creek. He was a millwright at General Foods Post Division 17 years. He retired in 1982. He was a member of the Excalibur Club and he enjoyed repairing small engines, woodworking (especially making rocking horses) and fishing. Surviving are his wife; sons, William George SWARTZ Jr., Tucson, Ariz., and Mark William SWARTZ, Sherwood; daughters, Dyitha Lee NEYDON, Sturgis, and Debra Lee SWARTZ, Battle Creek; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three half-brothers and two half-sisters. There will be no visitation. Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date in Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens. Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Feb. 20, 1995 at the East Leroy Community Church! with the Rev. Ronald Buckmaster officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Shaw-Estes Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Memorials may be directed to Good Samaritan Hospice Care of the American Lung Association.
