Information courtesy of Sharon Warner, Homer Index. Lois McKeel, 90, of Bradenton, Florida, and formerly of Homer, died Monday, November 1, 1999, at her home. Mrs. McKeel was born May 25, 1909, in Puryear, Tennessee, to John Henry and Sallie (Taylor) McCormick. She married William W. McKeel August 4, 1934, and he preceded her in death November 26, 1995. Mrs. McKeel was a former resident of Ferndale, Northville and Homer, and wintered in Bradenton from 1973 until she became a permanent resident of Florida in 1993. She was a member of the Manitee Methodist Church, and a homemaker who loved to spend time with family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, square dancing, traveling and entertaining. She was a former sales clerk for the J.L. Hudson Corporation, a Girl Scout leader and a member of the O.E.S. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Lois McKeel; a grandson, Chuck (Lisa) Pratt; and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Michael Pratt, all of Milan. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Joe Denver McCormick; her twin brother, Louis McCormick; and a grandson, Timmy Pratt. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 7, at Peoples Presbyterian Church in Milan, with the Rev. Frank Dunbar officiating. Private burial followed on Monday in Marble Park Cemetery in Milan. The Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home in Milan handled the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Peoples Presbyterian Church Children's Christian Education Fund.
