Information courtesy of Sharon Warner, Homer Index. Alton Lee "Butch" Neal, Sr., 54, of Tekonsha, died Monday, October 25, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Neal was born September 19, 1945, in Albion, to Clarence John and Vera (VanDyke) Neal. He married Loretta Blair March 7, 1964, in Homer. She survives. Mr. Neal was a resident of the Calhoun County area his entire life. He worked at Alfab, Union Steel, Albion Malleable, Althaver Chevy and Brookside Auto, retiring in 1986. He was a former volunteer fireman for Tekonsha and a former coach for the Demon fast pitch softball team of Marshall. He was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge and the Horseshoe League of the Moose, and the Albion Eagles. He enjoyed bowling and stock car racing. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Alton (Karlene) Neal II of Union City, and Larry (Shondel) Neal of Tekonsha; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Penny) Parker of Gaylord, and Mrs. Brian (Pamela) Edwards, of Homer; seven grandchildren; five brothers, Clarence J. Neal of Alabama, Robert Neal of Albion, James Neal of Marshall, Harold Neal of Burr Oak, and Donald Neal of Alabama; and three sisters, Loretta Maynard of Niles, Lucille Roberson of Kalamazoo and Linda Stafford of Alabama. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Williams, Frances Donke, Caroline Neal and Edith Neal. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28, at the Albion Chapel of Tidd-Williams Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Daryl Dexter officiating. Burial was in Albion Memory Gardens.
