Age 77 Of Athens, Michigan Passed away under the loving care of her family Monday, September 20, 2004 at her daughter's home where she had lived for fifteen years. She was born August 3, 1927 in the Delton area, Barry County, Michigan to Jacob and Bernice K. (Marshall) DeKilder. She was united in marriage to Moses Taft Barnebee in Athens, Michigan November 28, 1945. She was employed at Henckel's Market, in Athens for 18 years. She was a room mother when her children were in school. At one time, she belonged to the New Idea Club, and the VFW Auxiliary in Athens. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, dancing, shopping, and hosting family get-togethers. Marie and her husband moved to Florida in 1977. She was employed by Publix Supermarket in Haines City, FL for ten years until returning to Michigan in 1988. Since returning to Athens, she spent her time enjoying her family, to whom she had dedicated her entire life. Marie was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a generous! , loving nature and a good sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Ann Card of Battle Creek, MI, Barbara (Randy) Spottek of Mason, MI, Connie (Brian) Roe of Athens, MI, and Albert (Julie) Barnebee of Athens, MI; grandchildren, Matthew Spottek of Union City, Diana Spottek of Mason, Joseph Barnebee of Climax, Michael (Teresa) Barnebee of East Leroy, Lisa Barnebee of Battle Creek, Eric (Keri) Roe of Athens, Amy Roe of Middleville, Angel (Issac) Rapson of Battle Creek, Emily (Chris) Hopwood of Bryan, TX, and Jacob Cain of Addison, IL; precious great-grandchildren, Cody and Emily Barnebee, and their mother, Kim Barnebee of Albion, Julia and Sara Barnebee of East Leroy, Gavin Carr and his father, Shaun Carr of Battle Creek, and Sophia Rapson of Battle Creek. Additionally, she is survived by sisters, Geneva Lammers of Battle Creek, and Glenna Haines of Galesburg. Surviving sisters-in-law include, Jean Barnebee of Vi! sta, CA, Mary Jane Walkley of Ocala, FL, and Kathy DeKilder of Haines City, FL; also numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Moses "M.T." Barnebee, on February 10, 1989; granddaughter, Catherine Eileen Cain, August 15, 1977; brother, Clyde DeKilder of Haines City, FL; sister, Genevieve Maile of Galesburg; and son-in-law, John Card of Battle Creek; brother and sisters-in-law, Seymour and Gertrude Smith of St. Johns, MI, Carl and Katholine Mowry of Battle Creek, Harold "Herb" Haines of Galesburg, Merl Lammers of Battle Creek, Oliver and Margarette Javery of Warren, MI, Paul Maile of Galesburg, Albert James "A.J." Barnebee of Vista, CA, and Dr. R.A. "Bud" Walkley of Ocala, FL. The family gives special thanks to granddaughter Amy Roe, care provider, Angie Vosburg, Dr. Gould and staff. Friends may call at Spencer Family Funeral Home in Athens where the family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004.
