She was born February 3, 1909, in Saginaw the daughter of William J. and Lottie (Flynn) McKay. Marie lived for a short time in Owosso and Chicago before coming to Battle Creek in 1915 and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1928. During the summers of her high school years, Marie worked in the laundry department at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. After graduation, she was employed in the main office of the Kellogg Company and after marriage became a homemaker. Marie married Deland Hodgman Davis December 7, 1935 in Kalamazoo and he preceded her in death October 29, 1996. Marie is survived by daughter, Diane M. (Arne) Diehl of North Canton, OH; son, Deland M. (Sharon) Davis of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" McKay in 1955. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and was an aff! iliate member of Wauko Union Church in Maui, HI where she formerly spent her winters. Marie was a member of Ernie Childs Class, the Michigan Historical Society, the Battle Creek Historical Society, Ladies Guild at Kimball House Museum, the Battle Creek Y-Center and was a charter member of the former Y's Menettes Club. At the request of the family friends will be received 3 - 5 p.m. Wednesday at the FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE FUNERAL HOME 105 Capital Ave. NE Battle Creek. Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Maple United Methodist Church, 342 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, with Pastor Charles Farnum officiating. Private interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple United Methodist Church or the Kimball House Museum.
