Of Battle Creek Passed away Saturday December 1, 2007 at VA Medical Center. He was born in Athens, MI on June 22, 1942 to Glenn and Mildred (Hosmer) Hinchman. James graduated from Athens High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964, and in the Air National Guard. James was employed by General Motors in Kalamazoo for 28 years as a millwright. He then worked for Barker Manufacturing for five years and Marshall Country Club for 10 years. James married Shirleyanne J. Lang on May 29, 1968, she survives. Also surviving, a son, Alan G. (Christi) Hinchman, grandsons, Jacob Reese and Nathan Riley Hinchman, all of Rock Hill, SC; his parents, Glenn and Mildred Hinchman of Athens, a brother, Charles (Elizabeth) Hinchman, of Athens, sister, Jean (Donald) Butcher, of Greenville, IL; Two nieces and a nephew. James and Shirleyanne spent their winters in Florida and summers at Tri-Lakes Trails Campground in Marshall. He enjoyed building models of Great Lake Freighters with his son, Alan! . Family will receive friends from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday with Pastor Mark Mitchell of Lyon Lake United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be given to Help Hospitalized Veterans or charity of one's choice. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 12/3/2007.
