BRITTEN - Athens, 71, died Nov. 1, 1995 at Community Hospital, Battle Creek. He was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Battle Creek, a son of George and Marion (WELLS) BRITTEN. On Dec. 22, 1945, he married Constance L. VOSS. He attended Lakeview Schools before moving to East Leroy when he was a young boy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was employed at the General Services Administration at the Federal Center, Battle Creek, retiring in 1981. He was a life member of the Athens Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5319 and he enjoyed fishing, traveling and woodworking in his shop. Surviving are his wife; a daughter-in-law, Elaine (BRITTEN) WARREN, Sherwood; a foster son, David WHITFIELD, Phenix City, Ala.; brothers, Harold and Robert BRITTEN, both of Battle Creek; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, John BRITTEN, in 1975; and three brothers, Duane, Richard and Wendell. The family will receive frien! ds from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Spencer Funeral Home, Athens, where services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Pastors Harold DeWitt and David Gotshall will officiate. Burial will be in Morgan Cemtery with military honors being conferred by the Athens VFW Post 5319.
