    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RFB.2ACE/1776.1 Message Board Post: Hi Barbara. I have tracked movement to Calhoun, Eaton, Branch and Ionia counties FROM Cayuga and Onondaga counties in New York. I have one family who had this travel pattern: (most recent place to earliest known place: Coldwater, Branch Co, Mich - Oswego, Oswego Co, NY - Auburn, Cayuga Co NY- Sterling, Cayuga Co, NY - Western, Oneida Co, NY - Canajoharie, Montgomery Co, NY. I am stuck around 1790 in Montgomery Co, NY. The opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 really enabled people in New York and further east to gain access to the open land further "west" - in this case, Michigan territory and the states which subsequently formed from them. If you can research county histories, you may find these Hart families listed as pioneers. Many times the exact birth dates and locations are given, especially for the men. Let me know if I can help you specifically. Regards, Karen
