"Dick" Battle Creek, MI Died unexpectedly at his home. Dick was born on June 21, 1935 in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Vernon and Irene (Wolf) Longman. On February 1, 1958 he married Louise J. Hill, who preceded him in death in 1998. Dick was proud to have served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was discharged from the Coast Guard so that he could serve the U.S. Marines in Korea. He had worked as an electrician and had worked for General Motors, Post Cereal. He retired from a similar position with Kellogg's. He also worked as a fire fighter for the City of Battle Creek. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Longman. He is survived by a son, Tom (Sissy) Longman of East Leroy; daughters, Kathryn (Troy) Penny of Grapevine, TX, and Karen (Bryan) Dunigan of Bedford, TX; 5 grandchildren; sisters, Audrey (John) Roe, MaryJo (Ed) Twigg, Elaine Lynn and Jack (Kathryn) Longman; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the! Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St. Interment at Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax. Friends may call on the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
