ROE, 84, died October 17, 1996 at his daughter's home in Athens after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 28, 1912 in Wakeshma Township to Wilbur and Lottie (CASSIDY) ROE. He attended Athens Public Schools and lived in the Athens area all his life. Until World War II, he was employed in several enterprises, truck driving, and selling and servicing in the auto industry. During the war he was employed by Clark Equipment in Battle Creek. From 1958 to 1974 he was self-employed in the Laudromat Industries. He owned and operated laundromats in Jackson, Athens, Union City, White Pigeon and South Haven. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the Upper Peninsula immensely. Surviving are three daughters, Barbara BERCOT, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Arlene BINGLEY, Kankakee, Ill. an Linda MINIER, Athens; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a special dear friend, Mary Boelens. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence (KLINE) ROE and ! two brothers, Donald roe and Victor Roe. Visitation will be at the Spencer Funeral Home in Athens on Saturday, October 19, 1996 from 4-7 p.m. when the family will be present. Private funeral services will be conducted.
