Age 66 Of Battle Creek Died February 27, 2007 at home. He was born March 31, 1940, the son of Minor B. and Amelia L. (Meeks) Yeast in Battle Creek. Jerry graduated from Galesburg High School in 1958 and received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Western Michigan University. At age 14 Jerry began working at Brook Lodge. He taught in the Lakeview Schools for 32 years, retiring in 1996. Jerry also served as the assistant tennis coach at Lakeview High School and as the tennis pro at Battle Creek Country Club. Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Mary A. Roelof on June 21, 1959. She survives. Also surviving are daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Kierstead of Minneapolis and their children, Travis and Christy; sisters, Brenda (Randy) Mason of Kalamazoo, Rosalyn (Mark) Champion of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Amy Yeast in 1985. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle where he served as a deacon and led a discussion class. Friends and family are welc! ome to visit from 5 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Shaw Funeral Home 2838 Capital Ave., SW, Battle Creek, MI 49015 269-979-3838 Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle, in Battle Creek, Ken Wilson, officiating. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Galesburg. Jerry felt his life was blessed and it was his privilege to support organizations that served people in need such as Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank, Salvation Army and CARE.
