David "Dave" Of Battle Creek Leo Tourjie, USMC, 22, of Battle Creek, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday morning, February 26, 2007. He was born in Minot, North Dakota on October 21, 1984, the son of Kevin L. and Julie C. (Jackson) Tourjie and graduated from Pennfield High School in 2003. Dave recently graduated from the United States Marine Corps Boot Camp at Camp Pendleton, California, on Friday, February 23, 2007. Before joining the Marine Corps, Dave had been employed at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center. Dave is survived by his parents, Kevin and Julie Tourjie of Battle Creek; his brother, Christopher H. "Chris" Tourjie of Battle Creek; his grandmother, Jacqueline Jackson of Renton, Washington; two uncles, Jerry (Kathy) Jackson and Jody (Dawn) Jackson, both of Washington; three aunts, Marcia Tourjie, Joanne (Robert) Meyer and Julie Tourjie, all of New York and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Jackson, retired USMC; pater! nal grandparents, George and Geraldine Tourjie Jr.; two uncles, Jeffrey Jackson and George Tourjie, III, and a special cousin, Sabrina Sorden. Dave will be remembered by all as a "Good kid who loved his family and his country." At the request of the family, friends may call after 1:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2007 at the FARLEY-ESTES & DOWDLE FUNERAL HOME 105 Capital Ave., Battle Creek where they will be received 1:00 - 3:00 & 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Monday. Funeral and military services celebrating Dave's life will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta with full military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.
